Home improvement projects have been on the rise seeing more than a 12% increase from the previous year. From new construction to planning and remodelling. Home owners are starting to focus on making their living more comfortable and functional. An estimated 83% of homeowners remodel to improve the look and layout of their current home. An estimated 54% of homeowners invest in home improvement to increase their home value.
The most common home improvement is getting a new bathroom (39%), closely followed by installing a kitchen (38%), according to a survey by insurer GoCompare.
It asked 1,250 homeowners (in March 2019) what home improvements they have made in the past five years. Also, in the top 10 list were:
- Installing a new boiler or central heating system (34%)
- Having a garden make-over (26%)
- Installing double glazing (26%)
- Building an extension (17%)
- Knocking through rooms (12%)
- Fitting solar panels (12%)
- Getting a loft conversion (10%)
- Adding an extra bedroom (9%)
